If you
have the luxury of space you can really go to town with a huge bath, twin
basins and plenty of storage, as shown here by items from the Espace
range. |
Having a separate space for the toilet and bidet provides privacy and
also helps to hide the more functional areas from open view.

But the beauty of Espace
can still be enjoyed in a more compact setting, after all we don’t
all have masses of space available. |

Different floor levels
and surfaces also help to define separate areas in the bathroom. The effect
is amplified by the changing finish on the walls where some areas are
fully tiled and others partly tiled or painted.

An interesting storage
format from Nuova, featuring wood effect units with frosted glass sliding
doors. The mirror has lighting strips either side. Note the use of a band
of mosaic tiles creating a splashback on a simple painted wall.
Mosaic has also been used
on the bath front which is just visible.

This type of furniture makes hiding pipes
much easier than that pictured above.

To add interest a slim
border has been created using a band of contrasting mosaics.
This mosaic border can be applied either vertically or horizontally. It
can also be laid on the floor, but be careful that your choice of mosaic
is suitable for floor use. Most actually are, but it’s best to check.

Another storage idea
from Riva, where a classical washstand concept is brought right up to
date.
Again note how the unit
base is clear off the floor, meaning that some thought needs to go into
concealment of the plumbing.

The large tiles here are
again fixed horizontally and the unusual poppy field border brings some
colour into the room which can be complimented with towels and accessories.
Heated towel rails do not
always have to be fitted at radiator level.
